MUQEEM RESIDENT IDENTITY CARD FOR KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA
Starting from the Islamic new year 1st Muharram 1437 Hijri (14th October 2015), The government of Saudi Arab is going to provide a new kind of Identity cards for expatriates who are living in the kingdom named like Resident Identity Card or it is also called Muqeem Card, that is going to replace Iqama. Expired Iqama’s will get new Muqeem Card from this Islamic new year 1437, Simply Muqeem Card will take place of Iqama
In Riyadh Muqeem card already launched by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Naif, Deputy Premier and MOI (Ministry Of Interior). The department will no more use the name “Iqama” . Passport department has announced that New Resident Identity Cards (Muqeem cards) to be sent by Saudi Post for individuals and companies there would be no longer need to visit any of the offices as this services will be totally online.
The Muqeem card is really unique in because it is valid for five years and the main purpose of providing the identity of the foreign national in the field, as well as their name, religion, birth date, profession, eligibility to work, nationality, work permit number , and employer.
Muqeem card does not have expiry date. However it is renewable annually by employer via muqeem online service or abshir service. But the iqama remain same, Only the name iqama has been replaced by Muqeem card
– Three years ban on expatriate, if he fails to come back on exit re entry visa after exiting from Saudi Arabia. However he can come back to Saudi, if he wants, after 3 years.
The special machines will install at some places like checkpoints and banks where Muqeem cards will be readable
